About
Hello, I'm Binhnn!
So, I'm Binh Nguyen, born in '89. I'm this guy who studied cybersecurity – talk about going off-script, right? – but somehow got completely hooked on the world of code and SEO. Back in my IT classes, they taught me how to lock things down, find the cracks in the system, but my brain would always wander off to thinking about the lines of code that make cool websites, or how to get a webpage to climb its way to the top of Google. If you're curious about a guy like me, then pull up a chair, I'll tell you my story. It's nothing fancy, just a bunch of hard falls, almost getting conned by those cheesy 'get rich quick' SEO courses, but also full of moments that made me realize I can't live without this gig.
The Hustle to Survive
Before I knew anything about code, I did all sorts of jobs to make ends meet. Born in '89, I grew up having to fend for myself. I used to wait tables at the Pandora shopping center, do odd computer repairs, and stand guard at a bank. Those jobs weren't easy, but they taught me patience. In 2013, I decided to study Information Technology at a vocational school, majoring in cybersecurity, even though I had no prior related experience. From 2013 to 2015, I juggled studying and working, and I especially remember those days of going to school all day and then working the night security shift from 10 PM to 6 AM. There were times I was so tired I'd doze off in class, but I pushed through because I knew I wanted something bigger. When I graduated in 2015, I started dreaming about creating my own websites.
In 2014, while studying, I accidentally stumbled into writing a simple HTML webpage. It was just a few clumsy lines of code, but I felt like I had found something I wanted to pursue. I knew I liked doing something related to the web, even though I wasn't exactly sure what it was at the time.
Falling Flat with Code and the Days of Self-Learning
In 2016, I dove headfirst into learning Front-end through online courses. I was fascinated by beautiful interfaces and smooth-running websites. But learning online back then wasn't easy. I bought a few courses that advertised "become a programmer in 30 days," only to realize they were full of empty theory. One course even said, "just copy-paste the code and you're done" – yeah, done alright, but the website was as slow as a snail! Those disappointments stung, but they also forced me to teach myself. I scoured YouTube, read English documentation, and gradually managed to create some decent interfaces on my own.
Also at the end of 2016, I was browsing Reddit and saw people excitedly discussing "keywords" and "SEO." I was curious: how could a website reach the top of Google without spending money on ads? I started reading about SEO, but at that point, it was just out of curiosity, I didn't dare to delve deeper.
SEO – Fate and the Near "Chicken Coop" Moments
By 2018, I tried to learn Back-end, but quickly realized it wasn't my cup of tea. Server code and databases made me feel exhausted. Instead, SEO piqued my curiosity even more. I started taking on WordPress website design jobs, learning more about SEO along the way. But man, SEO was tougher than I thought! I used to think that just stuffing keywords randomly into articles would make Google "love" me. The result? Websites I made ended up on page 20, with no one bothering to visit.
I frantically searched for SEO courses, and this is when I almost fell into some "chicken coop" traps (Vietnamese slang for scams). There were these "gurus" advertising "get to the top of Google in 7 days" or "just buy cheap backlinks and you're done." I almost spent money on them, but luckily I stopped in time after reading some warning posts online. Instead, I taught myself, read materials from overseas, and experimented on my own websites. Those failures hurt a lot, but they taught me that SEO is a long-term game that requires patience and doing things the right way.
From 2019 to 2021, I was determined to seriously learn comprehensive SEO. I analyzed Google's algorithms, experimented with keywords, built backlinks, and fixed technical errors. There was one time I stayed up until 3 AM just to figure out why a website was loading slowly. But when I saw a website I worked on climb to the top of Google, I was so happy I wanted to shout. That's when I knew I truly loved SEO.
Switching Gears and Discovering Google Ads
In 2021, I surprisingly switched gears and worked for a steel company, moving into the Marketing department. There, I learned to see digital from a practical perspective: how to attract customers faster. I started dabbling in Google Ads and found it interesting because it delivered immediate results. By 2023, I returned to freelancing, but this time I did all three: website design, comprehensive SEO, and Google Ads. I call it a "full-package digital solution" – not because it's grand, but because I want to help others handle everything from A to Z, saving them time.
From 2024 until now, I still learn every day. Digital changes in the blink of an eye, and I don't want to fall behind. I read documents, join online groups, and experiment with new ways to make websites more beautiful, SEO more sustainable, and ads more effective.
What Do I Do Now?
Now I'm a freelancer, doing what I love:
- Website Design: Creating beautiful, user-friendly, and SEO-ready websites.
- Comprehensive SEO: Helping websites reach the top of Google by doing things correctly and sustainably.
- Google Ads: Running ads to attract customers quickly and cost-effectively.
- Full-Package Digital Solutions: Handling everything from website, SEO, to Ads, so you don't have to worry about a thing.
I don't promise to make you a millionaire. But I promise to work with integrity, just like how I overcame those difficult days to get here.
Why Am I Telling This Story?
I'm telling you this because I want you to see that I'm not perfect. I've stumbled, almost been scammed, and failed.
